After a month's hiatus we once again left Ballina minus the fanfare to continue our adventures around Oz. Tomoko and I shared driving duties as we made our way south to Cessnock for the night. As we pulled into the caravan park a powerful thunderstorm loomed on the horizon but luckily we caught the edge of it, missing any potential hail.
The following day we survived the drive through Sydney traffic and made our way to the picturesque Kangaroo Valley. We had a nice cafe lunch here as we passed through a few years ago and felt like it needed revisiting.
Our caravan site was under the shade of a eucalpytus tree which kept things cool but the wet windy conditions left our ute and van covered with gum tree debris, resulting in a natural mosiac. On the plus side - our camp was bathed in the fresh smell of eucalyptus.
The neighbouring farm is home to three alpacas. They were really interested in Shaka and each time we approached the fence they came over to stare at him. Wasn't sure if they were sweet on him or scared of him but they were definately intrigued by him. So cute.
On Saturday the adjoining showgrounds was home to the local markets. Tomoko purchased Shaka a pair of socks....... Mmmmm. Only time will tell if he ever wears them. Until then adios amigos.
